With the support of the Program for Improving the Processing and Marketing of Agri-Food Products and the Department of Climate Action, Food, and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya, JAUME ARTIGAS CASELLAS, SA. has succeeded in renewing its machinery and facilities, modernizing its processes, implementing digitalization, becoming more sustainable, and optimizing the resources used in manufacturing.
The investment project, titled “Project for Digitization and Investment in Fixed Assets, Aimed at Improving the Company’s Production Processes, Sustainability, and Competitiveness” and file number “ARP_2025_EXP_SICA001_07_8800086,” has achieved the following objectives:
- Energy efficiency through the rational use of energy resources incorporated into the production process and by reducing the carbon footprint.

JAUME ARTIGAS CASELLAS S.A. has received a grant for its energy-saving and efficiency project, “Optimization of the Meat Defrosting System,” co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), coordinated by IDAE, and administered by the autonomous communities, funded by the National Energy Efficiency Fund, with the goal of achieving a cleaner and more sustainable economy. An energy-saving and efficiency project has been developed that involves replacing the current meat defrosting system with a new system specifically designed for this defrosting process. We have enlisted the collaboration of the industry’s leading equipment manufacturers, who will help us achieve significant energy and environmental savings in the process. Thanks to this project, 8.7 teps are saved annually.
Renewable Energy Investment Project for Climate Change Mitigation in Food Processing

Project description:
The “Renewable Energy Investment Project for Climate Change Mitigation in Food Processing” aims to install electric vehicle chargers, a solar thermal system for heating domestic hot water, a solar photovoltaic system for self-consumption, and to adapt the facilities for these installations.

JAUME ARTIGAS CASELLAS S.A. has received a grant for its energy-saving and efficiency project titled “Expansion of the Condensation System for Freezing Tunnels and Product Temperature Control,” co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), coordinated by IDAE and administered by the autonomous communities, funded through the National Energy Efficiency Fund, with the goal of achieving a cleaner and more sustainable economy. An energy-saving and efficiency project has been developed consisting of the installation of a product temperature control system in the freezing tunnels and the expansion of the condensation system through the installation of an evaporative condenser. Thanks to the project, 39.94 teps are saved annually.

JAUME ARTIGAS CASELLAS S.A. has received a grant for its energy-saving and efficiency project, “ENERGY OPTIMIZATION OF REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS,” through the NATIONAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY FUND and administered by the INSTITUTE FOR ENERGY DIVERSIFICATION AND SAVINGS (IDAE). This grant is co-financed by the European Union through the 2014–2020 ERDF Operational Program for Sustainable Growth. An energy-saving and efficiency project has been developed consisting of the installation of a common antechamber for 6 freezing tunnels, which will consist of 6 dehumidifiers located at each of the doors, the installation of three evaporators to maintain a temperature of 12°C, and the implementation of an automatic temperature control system for the entire refrigeration plant, resulting in an estimated savings of 14.11 toe/year.
